WHAT WE BELIEVE
Our beliefs reflect the scriptural truths presented in the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
OUR STORY
Our story is a story of God's work through the obedience and faith of His people.
In the summer of 2011 God placed a calling and vision in Pastor Dusty's heart to plant a fresh, life-giving church in his hometown, Stanley, NC.
Depot Church began in Dusty and Jennifer Smith's home in Stanley in October of 2013. On the first Sunday 33 people packed into the living room, dining room and kitchen for worship.
Depot Church quickly grew out of that home and into the Multipurpose Room at Kiser Elementary. Sundays in January 2014 "preview services" were held. On February 2, 2014 the first official worship service was held. Worship services would continue to be held at Kiser for the next 7 years.
During our 7 years at Kiser we experienced steady growth.
In August of 2019 Depot Church closed on its new home at 101 N. Main St. in Stanley. Formerly a branch of BB&T.
In March of 2020 the COVID-19 pandemic hit. The world slowed down and so did the renovations of our new church home. We could no longer meet at Kiser Elementary and our new home was not complete. Like many churches we met online for 6-8 weeks. We then held drive-in worship services in our parking lot for almost 2 years.
On Sunday, October 10, 2021 we held our first service inside of Depot Church.

OUR NAME

Our name fits the town and community we serve. We love calling Stanley home!
"The Brevard railroad station was built in 1860 in the Stanley area and was designated Depot 13. During the Civil War years, the depot was a rallying point for all men who were leaving for training camps or to battle. It is said that a cheering crowd of people gathered around the depot to see the first troops depart. The railroad was also used to send supplies to the battlefields during the war. W.H. Abernathy was the railroad's agent at the depot in 1864. By 1865, the weary soldiers began returning to their homes to begin the difficult period of Reconstruction. A community began to build up around the railroad station, and in 1879, a village of 15 families was incorporated as Brevard Station. In 1893, the names of the town and the depot were changed to Stanley Creek."
A new gazebo and patio now stand where the Depot once was. A mural depicting the original Stanley Depot is painted on a wall directly across from our main entrance at 101 N. Main St.
